Abstract: Short piece where Glenn talks about playing in an LPGA pro-am, his love of golfing, and touring for Strange Weather.

Rock singer/songwriter Glenn Frey, formerly of the Eagles, played in the pro-am with pro Cindy Rarick. His golf bag has his name and The Heat Is On (one of his best-known songs) emblazoned on it.

Frey said he was ''getting in his last hurrah'' before he goes to Germany in two weeks to launch a tour for his new album Strange Weather.

For amateurs, said Frey, the LPGA is the best pro tour. The women ''don't muscle the ball, they have good tempos, beautiful follow-throughs.''

Frey said he hasn't played much this year because he has been in the studio. But once his tour ends this summer, he expects to play a lot.

He said his wife, Cindy, takes lessons and is ''a great athlete. She plays tennis, skis. And it won't be too long before we'll be able to play golf together.''

Frey said he wants to play more tournaments: ''I would like to get my handicap below 18. This game is a lot more fun when you hit it straight.''
