Joking around at the office

"Hit the skins? Is that what you call having sex?"

Ziggy: "Sorry - how long since you did the groovy deed?"

"Maybe I'm not some insecure kid who needs to brag about it!"

Talking with the parents of the dead boy

"What can we do for you?"

The father: "Our son has been murdered by a cop."

"Why don't you believe the police story?"

The mother: "Our son was turning his life around. Help us."

"Busted" for a gambling debt by Det. Frank

"Where's Grant?"

"I just have $15!"

Frank: "Well, let's see..."

"Er... guess I had more money than I thought."

Asking Frank for help with the case of the dead boy.

"I'm working for the parents of the kid."

"Hey, you squashed my sandwich!"

Taking a drive

Cody turns on some mellow 70s music.

Ziggy: "I used to think you were uncool - now I know it."

Ziggy hits on a pretty girl in the next car over.

"This is his favorite song. Loves to hit the skins to it - no lie!"

Haha! Ziggy's been denied!

At the police station questioning Officer Davis

"We have some questions about the shooting."

Davis: "Those parents let their kid run the street."

Watching him storm off.

Ziggy hits on Davis' sexy female partner.

Watching Ziggy celebrate scoring.

Discussing the case at the office

"It seems open and shut."

"The kid was a drug dealer."

"How am I gonna tell his parents?"

"Do you think it's open and shut?"

Gina: "I don't buy it."

Gina: "I'm going to show you I'm right - you'll be sorry!"

"I already am."

Back in the 'hood, Gina proves her point

Gina: "You're Tommy - run. Cody's Davis - he'll chase you."

Hot pursuit!

Yikes, caught in the jump rope!

Is he going down?

A last minute save and he's on his way!

Catching up....

Until Ziggy yells to a guy to hose down Whitey!

Cody goes around.

Running out of steam.

Gasping for breath.

Barely able to stand.

Gina: "So you see, a man your age wouldn't catch up. Davis is lying."

"OK, you've proven your point."

"So... what really went down?"

Look - a hobo who might have seen something!

Questioning the hobo back at the office

Hobo: "Where's my hot sauce?"

"Look, all we have is ketchup."

Hobo: "The cop told me not to say anything."

"What happened?"

Hobo: "The cop took handcuffs off him and put a bottle in his hand."

"Ziggy, you'd better be over here in 15 minutes..."

Ziggy hung up on him - he's interrupting a date with the hot cop.

Laying a trap at the scene of the crime

"Freeze, Davis."

Davis: "Don't call the police - I've been set up."

"Prove it."

Davis: "The kid ran because he thought I was one of them."

"Are you saying the dealers are working with corrupt cops?"

Davis: "Yeah - and they use 11-year-old kids like Jerome."

Going to the 'hood basketball court looking for Jerome

Cody tries to look inconspicuous in his idea of "streetwear."

Shamed by Ziggy into taking off his headband.

"Hey, I know what I'm doing. Just watch."

"Yo brothers - what up?"

Ziggy is mortified.

"What does a guy gotta do to get info?"

Trying to prove his worth to the homeboys by making a basket.

He shoots...

It flies through the air in slo-mo...

Not even close.

Humiliation station!

"But wait - there's Jerome."

"Hey Jerome, how are ya?"

Ziggy: "I'm a PI and this is my trainee, Cody McMahon."

"Let us take you home, Jerome."

Jerome agrees - off they go.

At the nearby ice cream stand

"I'll take you home in a minute, but first I need some info."

Jerome: "I'm not sayin' nothing."

"I urge you to reconsider your line of work."

They've been set up! Busted for a "drug deal"!

Cop: "Don't move!"

"Hey, I'm a PI!"

Cop: "Shut up and go spread-eagle."

At the jail

Feeling impotent to help Jerome.

"Ziggy, you gotta go take care of Jerome."

"He could be killed."

"Don't worry - I still don't trust you!"

Later, Det. Frank comes to the rescue

Cody feels frustrated.

"They've got nothing on me. You've gotta get me out of here."

"There are corrupt cops on the force."

"I have to get out of here to protect Jerome."

"Thanks!"

Back the 'hood - but things are much more serious

"I need to see Jerome NOW. It's a matter of life or death."

"Do I have to pay you guys for info?"

"Here's 20 bucks."

The guy takes his money and doesn't help.

They toss him the ball - but Cody's not playing around.

He's just tossed it over the fence, and the guys are pissed.

"I'm not a fool - I'm trying to save Jerome's life."

He's gotten through; they lead him to Jerome..

"Jerome!"

Catching him before he can run away.

"You have to tell me the guys who you work for..."

"...Or you'll end up like your friend - dead."

Jerome: "It's not a guy - it's the girl cop!"

Rescuing Ziggy from the clutches of the hot cop.

After church - South of Sunset's final scene

Deacon Walker tells Cody about a new outreach program.

"That'll do the kids some good."

Doing a "cool handshake" with Jerome, now a counselor.

"You don't owe us a thing, Deacon."

"Hey, kid, watch where you're going!"

Newspaper Boy: "I'll watch out if you watch out."

Our work here is done - South of Sunset's closing shot.
